A Guest Post: On Art, Motherhood, and the Other Half of My Creative Life

Hello everyone,
Today, the person behind Boo Creative is stepping aside to let a guest blogger take over. That guest blogger is… well, me!
My name is Lynne, and when I’m not designing websites and logos here at Boo Creative, I live a whole other creative life as an artist, illustrator, and art practitioner under the name Lynne Denys.
It’s not a secret identity, but rather the other, equally important, half of my career. It’s the paint-splattered, sketchbook-filling, quiet-moment-seeking side of me that actually fuels everything I do, including the work for my wonderful Boo Creative clients.
For as long as I can remember, making art has been my way of understanding the world. It’s in the quiet hours of the morning, with a cup of tea and a blank page, that I feel most myself. It’s a space for play, for expression, and for capturing the little moments of beauty we often overlook. This practice isn’t just a hobby; it’s the foundation of my creative thinking.
Then, of course, there’s the beautiful, chaotic, and wonderful role of being a mother. Juggling family life, and two creative businesses is, as many of you will know, a masterpiece of organisation in itself! But I’ve found that motherhood, rather than taking away from my creativity, has profoundly enriched it. It has taught me to be more present, to find joy in the small things, and to work with a flexibility and empathy that I bring to every project I undertake, whether it’s a new painting or a new website.

These two worlds—the artist and the designer—are not separate. They constantly inform each other. The principles of colour, composition, and storytelling that I use in a painting are the very same principles I apply to create a beautiful and effective brand identity.
My experience as an art practitioner, teaching and encouraging others to find their creative spark, has given me a deep understanding of how to listen and collaborate—a skill that is essential when helping another woman build the business of her dreams.
I wanted to share this side of myself with you so you know that when you work with Boo Creative, you’re not just getting a designer. You’re getting an artist’s eye, a teacher’s patience, and a fellow mum’s understanding of the beautiful, busy life we lead.
Thank you for letting me share the other half of my story. If you’d like to see my more personal, illustrative work, I’d love for you to visit me at my other online homes.
Warmly,
Lynne
